A neighbourhood kitchen where vegetarian food is cooked the way it always was at home: slowly, by hand.
So, why so slow?
Same street, same stove.
Sandra and Petar opened the kitchen on Saenredamstraat in 2004 and have cooked here every week since. The neighbourhood changed around them. The beans did not.
Cooked on the stove, the same day.
Everything on the counter is made in the morning and served until it's gone. When a pot is empty, it's empty, so come early.
No fake meat. Just vegetables.
Beans, grains, peppers, aubergine and a lot of good olive oil. Everything is vegetarian, with vegan dishes every day and some gluten-free dishes too. Food the way it was cooked at home.
Made by hand, by the owners.
Bread is shaped, tarts are rolled and cookies are pressed by the two people whose names are on the door.

These are our highlights, on the counter almost every day. Alongside them we cook plenty of seasonal dishes. We make a limited amount each day, so dishes can sell out.

Sandra and Petar opened Olive & Cookie in De Pijp in 2004.
They cook vegetarian and vegan Mediterranean food the way it was cooked at home on the Adriatic: slowly, by hand, with good oil and a lot of patience.
One half of the name is savory and slow-grown, the other is sweet and homemade. You'll find both on the counter every day, with the two of them behind it.

We only ask for what we need to plan your catering or to tell you about cooking classes. This policy explains what we do with it.

Who we are

What we collect
Catering request: your name, email address, phone number (optional) and the event details you fill in: occasion, date, number of guests, budget, delivery or pickup, dietary wishes and notes.
Cook with Sandra: your email address.
When you send a form, our form service also receives your IP address and the time of sending, to block spam.
Please don't include health information in the notes. For allergies, a short mention like "nut allergy" is enough.
Why we use it
Catering: to answer your request and prepare and deliver your order. The legal basis is taking steps towards an agreement with you (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).
Cook with Sandra: to email you when class dates open. The legal basis is your consent (article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time by replying to one of our emails or contacting us.
We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who processes it for us
Forms on this site are sent through Web3Forms (Web3Creative, India), which delivers them to our Gmail inbox (Google). Web3Forms uses hosting and security providers to do this, including Amazon Web Services, Cloudflare, Hetzner (Germany) and the spam filters CleanTalk and Akismet (United States). We have a data processing agreement with Web3Forms.
Some of these providers are outside the European Economic Area. Those transfers are protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Catering: once your catering is done, or when it is cancelled, we delete all your personal information within a year, from our inbox and from our form service.
Cook with Sandra: until you unsubscribe, or until we stop the mailing list.
If we have to keep invoices for tax reasons, we keep only what the law requires (in the Netherlands, 7 years).
Cookies
This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking. Our fonts are stored on our own site, so no data goes to font services when you visit. Links to Instagram and Google Maps only open those services when you click them.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to limit or object to how we use it, or to receive a copy. Contact us at oliveandcookie@gmail.com, call 020 470 7190 or ask in the shop. We reply within one month.
If you are not happy with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
